Ok, so the other day I went out to the Vet's Hospital to write an article. (I'm a community writer for our small town newspaper.) And I saw these geese...or ducks, hey, I'm not a bird person, so I'm not sure.
Anyway, it struck me funny that they were eating in a "v" pattern, just the way they fly. So I took a picture of it. And as the leader of the group raised it's head up to see what I was up to, I decided to make what I thought were geese/duck noises at him.
WACK WACK WACK . I thought that sounded like a geese/duck.
Well, he either didn't think it sounded right, or something was lost in the translation because he immediately (and quickly) waddled my way and began to share his dislike of my use of his native language.

Everyone else was minding their own business; they kept eating, heads down, staying on task. But the leader was making it clear that I had messed up in some way. After I made it clear that I was no longer in agreement of communicating further with him (by practically running away from him), he put his head down and began to eat again.
I've been trying to parallel that scene in my life, and here's what I've come up with.
So many times in life, I'm going along normal, doing what I have to do, when someone comes along and tries to mess with me...sometimes it's about how I eat, what I'm eating, how I exercise, when I exercise, or they just want to tell me all about the right way to lose weight or inches or pant sizes. Well, sometimes I listen, but sometimes it's sounds like they're speaking a foreign language. (WACK WACK)
And there are times when I waddle over to them and tell them they've messed up trying to mess with me.
But honestly, I know, most folks are mainly trying to help out. It's good intended.
But weight loss efforts are really all about ME or YOU. What works for you probably won't work for me. What works for me probably won't work for you. Or maybe it will. Either way, you can share with someone a good strategy that's working for you, but that doesn't mean they're where you're at in the journey, or that it's going to create the same miracle in their movement of the scale as it has for you, and vice versa.
The whole point is, we just have to find something to do and keep on keeping on. We have to be consistent in taking those baby steps that turn into weight loss. Especially those of us that are very large people with very large numbers to lose.
So, I encourage you today. Make all the noise you want, fuss at yourself or at others about your weight loss effort (WACK WACK) but when you do, realize that you've distracted yourself from the consistency of it all. Try to keep your head down and plugging away at doing what you need to do. Consistency is the key. Consistency is the winner winner!
So, today, and tomorrow, if I'm still around, what I'm going to keep doing, is just keep doing.
Have an On-Track Keeping to the Program kind of day!
